The Robot Game
About the Game
The Robot Game is one of the main parts of the FIRST LEGO League competition. Teams design, build, and program a LEGO robot that completes missions on a competition field autonomously. Each mission represents a task connected to the season’s theme.
Teams have 2 minutes and 30 seconds to complete as many missions as possible. Each completed mission is awarded with points. The robot must start from either base area and operate autonomously using programs created by the team.
Success in the Robot Game requires a combination of engineering, programming, strategy planning, and teamwork.
Our Robot
Our robot was designed to complete missions accurately, quickly, and reliably. During the design process we focused on creating a strong and stable base while keeping the robot symmetrical, simple and efficient.
We tested different approaches and designs to find the most effective one to solve each mission. Each improvement helped us make the robot more precise and consistent during the runs.
Our goal was to create a robot that could perform multiple tasks with minimal errors.
Estonian finals strategy
→ Total of 14 missions solved with 6 runs
→ Starting from the right start area
→ Hugo L and Georg are on the right and Robin and Martin on the left
→ Max points 535
→ Most of the points come from the left side of the field
Current Strategy
→ Solving all of the missions (545 points)
→ Most of the points come from the right side of the field
→ Opposite team placement
→ Starting from the left starting area
→ More reliable than earlier versions
Programming
Programming plays a crucial role in the robot game. Programs control the robot’s movement, sensors, and tools.
The robot uses carefully and repeatedly tested programs to navigate the field and interact with mission models. We continuously improved the programs by testing different movement speeds and turning angles.
Through repeated testing and iteration, we improved both the accuracy and reliability of the robot’s performance.
What We Learned?
Through the robot game we developed important skills in engineering, programming, teamwork, and problem-solving.
We learned how to plan strategies, test ideas, and work together to overcome challenges. Most importantly, we learned that innovation often comes through experimentation and persistence.
The robot game showed us how technology, creativity, and teamwork can work together to solve complex challenges.
